Flying Carpet

A current project I am working on based on Steven Milhauser's Flying Carpet short story. I am being more aggressive with bolder color to make this a "happy" animation film.

Green Knight project: Character

Here are the two characters I've designed for this project. The thumbnail process was the most fun, limited by three values. I still need to rework Gawain's pose and add color to both of them.

Green Knight project: Environment

Based on the Story Sir Gawain and the Green Knight with a twist in theme: 1920s Gangster, Viking or Samurai. I choose Samurai/Video Game as I've never tackled drawing one before. This is confrontation scene, before they enter the forest where Gawain will fight the final boss, the Green Knight.

4/30/11: reworked the top environment

Boardtrack Racing Project

This was our first BFA project in Fall 2010. Our assignment was given by alumni working at ILM. Boardtrack racing was an old sport that was eventually banned in the 1930s. Our assignment was to design 3 characters, story moments, and a prop. My main character is a former racer turned mechanic with a wooden leg. He has become bitter from being unable to race anymore and slowly distancing himself away from his friends and girlfriend.

Still need to revise the rest of the character sheets and story moments.

05/23/11: Revised the character lineup.

Pimp My Truck Project: Truck

We were given several old trucks to choose from to design on top of. I chose this truck and turned it into a Ramen Truck. This was also a fun project to to work on. I had fun referencing the ramen cart in Japan. In fact I used photos from my own experience eating at one.

Edited 4/29/11: Fixed the truck perspective

Gary Soto's Treehouse

Here's an old assignment from my first vis dev class. We started out with values and then color. Still need to revise the color before upload it ;-)

5/5/11: Revised the top image. Simplified the dappled lighting and the wholes in the tree. Simplified the shapes of the leaves of the tree on the back.
